Catface Games is preparing to release it’s first title!
I hate blog posts saying stuff like ‘sorry about the lack of posts’ but… It’s been over a week, so I wanted to give any readers a heads-up as to what’s going on.
Catface Games is in the final stages of completing it’s first game. I have been working closely with the CFG artist and QA crew to iron out a few final details, polish up the graphics, tweak level design, game balance, etc…
Anyways, between real life work, monitoring Catface Arcade, and trying to finish up the game, I haven’t had much free time to do anything else. Not even cleaning… my desk has a mountain of Mountain Dew bottles on it o_O
FlashDevelop Error – the path to flash.exe is not configured properly
I have had a few people ask me about this error message and have had several hits from google regarding it as well. I remember that I had a similar issue when I started with FlashDevelop. I wanted to make a quick post with exactly what causes the error: “the path to flash.exe is not configured properly”, and how to fix it.
Make sure you have downloaded and installed the FlexSDK. You’ll need to take note of the path, cause it’s needed for the next step.
Catface Arcade is now live!
Over the past few weeks I have been talking about working on a Game Framework, more beginner as3 game tutorials, and the first ‘true’ Catface Games project release. It seems that every time I turn around I am getting side tracked or detoured. Though, finally I have some good news! Catface Arcade has finally launched!
Originally, I just wanted to have a flash gallery or something similar where I could host AS3 tutorials and Catface Games projects. The more I started researching it, the more interested became. Next thing I know, I’m buying an arcade script and staying up until my eyes started to bleed trying to learn more about php and how the script works.
Arcade Script – PHPAS 4.0 – Review
I am hoping to have some games / demos released over the course of the next few months and wanted a place to host them seperate from the blog. This way people who are just looking for some new games can play them without having to wade through programming blogs. Plus, I thought it might be fun to have a personal arcade site to host Catface Games stuff as well as some personal favorites. It’s currently a work in progress, but you can visit the site here: http://catfacearcade.com/.
Anyways, I decided to go with PHP Arcade Script 4. I have been doing research here and there for the past week or two, and decided that it offered everything I wanted in an arcade script.
Custom Right Click Context Menu
I created a singleton that you can drop into your current projects that will create a menu with your company name and copyright, pause, sound, music, and return to main menu options. This is a bit out of order, but I wanted to post this in case someone out there was looking for an easy way to add a custom context menu to their flash games.
Here’s an example of how to use it:
